Sony MEX-BT2500 in Fabia (cage does not fit)

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I search this and other forums or how to install non original radio in Fabia, i have cables done and antenna amplifier.

But now the problem starts, i did not have the skoda radio only the preparation with speakers and power iso connectors, i remove the blind plastic piece but the cage supplied with Sony is too thick, it is like 1 or 2 mm thicker then the hole. Any ideas? Did i miss something?

Thanks and Regards,

D.

Just jam it in lol. It'll fit once everything stretched a bit. Thats what I did with my Alpine. I tried it without the cage and it just rattled around, so I put the cage in and then gave it a firm shove to seat it. The alternative is to bin the Sony and get a Becker as I understand they don't use a cage.

I know it doesn't sound very professional, but its the only way I'm aware of.

just slightly squash teh cage slightly preferably from the top and bottom and it will go in they are are just a tad tight sometimes, once in just make sure its pushed out tight against the frame all over and the stereo fits in :)

jam it in thats what i did bit tight but it will go

Hello All,

Thanks for the tips, it worked, with a little bit playing it is installed!

Daniel

You may find it easier and a better fit if you trim some of the plastic of the vertical vanes on the top of the tray that sits below the radio. I have fitted a couple of after market radios to Fabias. They seem to bend the storage tray below if you dont trim these lugs off.
