the generation 2 MX5 sport came with bilstiens and an LSD iirc , also 16" alloys with 205/45 tyres , the same size as the Fabia VRS

Actually not gone for a sport, didn't have a drive of one either. All I've given up is the bilstien shocks and since they cost naff all I've not lost much and if I do love this as much as I suspect, then I'll replace the shocks in 70'000 miles anyway :D

Quite a few of the 5's had lsd's just mazda didn't tell many people, so I have the slighlty more efficient 5 gear box,, top might be a little strained, but seems very happy at 70(ish). All the new 2.0 cars have lsd's, and a selection of previous 2.5's also.

I've gained though heated leather seats and a pucker stero, better than the quite good civi, certainly for my audiophile head and radio 4 it will be fine. the heated seats are a must I reckon for top down wherever it goes, except when raining :) I've lost aircon, but c'est la vie how did we cope before...

Yes same size tyres, but also will run on 15's at 195 which means cheap as chips 888's and it's so light on them they last for a good 6 to 8 trackdays, which is handy being skint now and all :)

Cool nice one Col. The 5 was a fun car to drive when I had a go at a recent mazda renaissance event up in scotland

Nice one Col, I loved out MX-5 when we had one

Excellent choice sir - look forward to some pics.

All the best people have them, you know ;)

Well I could not not have one at some point given they are meant to be the best in class...next stop a tvr in a coupkle of years once I have learnt the black art :)

i find they are OK if you are less than 5'10" , anything above that height and it gets a bit cramped , the new ones seem to be a lot better in that area as i can get nice and comfy in those

a hard top also makes it feel a lot more spacious on the older models

Well I'm 5'11", but past 30 so shrinking :D

Not got a hard top for it, jsut got the ozone for company, well that said it will be raining tomorrow.

I'm about 5min drive from Llanberis in Bangor, well it's not quite 5mins in the vRS :p

I had the coilovers/arb/brakes etc fitted last week so though it was only right too bed them in Llandudno via Bewts Y Coed vis Bethesda via Llanberis via Bethgelert via Caernarfon :o

You have too love living in here :)

Col, you just need to find how to provoke the oversteer :)

I'd love to be living around 'beris again. I miss Pete's, maybe up on the Dinorwic/Bethsda side, good access to the hills of an evening :)

But alas IT work is thin.

right oversteere, umm I do have to work all that out, I hope it's not too hard and not too easy either :S The BM track thing is well planted so hard to get either without going mad and I don't do that easily.

Some pictures...must admit I'm looking forward to a 3 day wekeend :)

Col, that looks so nice. Got me wanting another one now :thumbdwn:

If I had the space for another car I would sell the bike and get one....

Well it's done. Needs a bit of tlc in places, you know the tiny things you don't spot. But it's lived in a barn for three years.

200 miles later I do enjoy the drive. It's amazing what 60 less horsepower does for the soul. Overtaking is a little more thoughtful and I'm sure this wonderful weather forecast will have me seeking out roundabouts with a hint of caution.

Had the chance to follow a 150 TT back up an A road I last used when I had a bicycle. Needless to say I deduced he was a local when he turned in to his drive, but the little 5 did me well.

Only comment as I suspected is brakes. Just does not feel like I'm stopping as well as it could, or at least compared to the Octy on her 2500's and the BM track on the low heat ceramic pads RS19's... time to do some research I think :D

Semes they have rubber hoses, might explain it, or some of it.

Good luck with it Col, enjoy it!!!

ColinD , check the brake discs all round , they have a nasty habit of rusting badly especially inside surfaces , even on a well used car , so 3 years in a barn ,Hmmm
