Dealers...

Thankfully this is not a Skoda dealer, although to be fair it did start with Mitchells trying to sell a car 3k over trade value.

I digress, I wished to test drive a car, intent was to purchase.

Told to come back next day as it had no juice, so I did. To be told that they the dealership didn't think I was ready to buy a car.

Quite right, not from there after that...so 4 hours and some fab driving on the A49 I now own another car...will let me get the octy tip top top cat :)

Can't wait to call the guy and tell him :) But for them to come to that conclusion was just insane, crazy insane, ho hum there loss my saving, well apart from 200 miles of A roads, gaud I'm knackered.

So come on then, what have you bought? :)

To be told that they the dealership didn't think I was ready to buy a car.

A discerning dealership, then :D

Yeah, don't keep us in suspenders  - what've you bought ?

And I hope you really really rub it in the other dealership's noses - some dealers are a**ewipes.

I love that attitude.

I went into a dealership in jeans and a baggy jumper, looking like a right victim of grunge on a day off when i was looking to buy a new car. Got told I couldn't afford the repayments on the finance on the car, to which I answered that that is correct as I was looking to buy outright, but that I would do that elsewhere.

Dealers being to$$ers, got to love it.

So what did you get colin?

what car have you bought then?

a guy at work was looking to buy an s2000

the dealer wouldn't allow him a test drive until

a) he'd priced my friend's current car for trade in (even though he wasn't trading it in)

B) finance had been sorted and shook on for the s2000 (in other words, order had been placed)

he got an RX-8 instead.

I reckon it'll be one of these ;)

Mx-5...

I didn't know you had taken a career change into hairdressing :P:rofl:

My parents had a wonderful experience quite a few years ago when they were looking to buy a car in France.

We used to live in rural countryside (very nice it was too :D) and were after the lookout for a new car. We really liked the Opel Vectra at the time, and went to the local Opel dealer. We were greeted as if we were trash. They just weren't interested in helping us, despite the fact we said we had decided on the car and just wanted a quick test drive to confirm it all. As they weren't prepared to help us, we went to another dealer in another town.

They were a lot more helpful, and we bought the new car from them.

The twist came when our insurance policy requested that the windows were etched with the VIN / reg plate. And guess who was the local approved window etcher? Yup, dealer number 1

So, we went back, still dressed in our tshirts and shorts and espadrilles (bearnaise shoes with a straw sole), in our brand new car (still had the temporary reg plate you get when you buy a new car in France). As we drove into the forcourt, the original salesman who snobbed us walked out. When he saw the brand new shiny car on temp plates and us with a big smile saying we're coming to get our windows etched, his face was a picture :jawsmall:   :D :D

So, we went back, still dressed in our tshirts and shorts and espadrilles (bearnaise shoes with a straw sole

Ah, la belle France! Home of fashion!

Well I've got to go and pick it up, oh the torture of picking it up and 200 miles of welsh roads to get home...but it's small and has a lsd, only 2000 of this model made :D

Which I guess could mean it's Barny Rubbles car if I wear one sticky shoe and one slipply shoe :D

Quinten's right though, one of them.

Had a smile on my face, despite a difference in power and not knowing the roads, I was definitly quicker in the Octy but then again I lost my licence in theory a thousand times last night.

Time will tell, I reckon it could be as quick on the A's and B's once I've learnt to drive...

I'll get some pics in a bit :D

S2000 then

S2000 then

Mazda did/do some MX5s with LSDs

One of the boys in work has just imported an S2000. I took it for a spin and its great fun on corners, but its got not torque and not fast at all (compared of course to my hearse)

An MX-5 turbo would be nice :)

Absolutely!

;)

Where about's in North Wales are you based Colin, never spotted that you might be a local by now :p

I had similar when I was 20, went to a garage and was interested in the 2.0 Mondeos he had, dealer refused to entertain me and was intent on selling me a 1.4 306 instead  Went to another garage and bought a 2.0 Cavalier CDX.

Colin, you coming to the trackday? You ought to you know, being the owner of all in the land of b :P

I reckon one of many limited edition MX5s... Maybe a Nevada? ;)

Glad you've got a new motor sorted anyway Colin. Is the beastie going to a good home? :)

Octy is staying I think...might run me a bit lean paying for two insurance etc...but a trade in on a 1 in 100 car modified was like making out with a bull...so I'll tidy it up over summer and move later, or move the little car if I don't like / can't bear the lack of power...

Whats more gauling is last week I got a quote somewhere for half what I'm getting tonight on insurance...I am begining to wonder if I made a mistake...

It is a mx5...it does have a lsd, I am at the trackday, but might not be in the 5...maybe the 3.

Not really in North Wales, but hey cheshire so close enough to warrant going via Llanberis
