Old Alpine + new Ipod! Help!!!

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm now the proud new owner of an Ipod and I want to listen to it through my car stereo (fed up of luggin all my cds around and not really safe changing them whilst driving).

I have an Apling CD7190 (i think!) which is about 5 years old. have tried one of the FM transmitter thingys, and wasn't impressed! Any ideas how I can play and control Ipod through this car stereo? Costs for the bits of kit?:D

I would give Safe n Sound a ring if you want an adaptor fitted. They are in Droyslden and I have just had a Dension Gateway 400 fitted by them. They seem pretty knowledgeable about ipod things, although they perhaps are not the cheapest, but decent service rarely is.

this is the posting I made of them...... clicky

You need to look at the KAC-420i to see if your unit is compatible with it. If so then you fit that and it's done :)

KCA 420i works with 2005 onwards head units, if you have an ai net unit it should work but being 5 yrs old I woudlnt have thought so. Wicked peice of kit ive got one for each of my cars and wouldnt be without it.

I Have an Alpine CDE-9850Ri RDS iPod head unit for sale with full ipod control from the head unit, artist album, song, shuffle.

Do you a deal if you are interested (nobody else is) !

If your head unit is changer compatible you can buy a aux input lead to feed the ipod signal into the head unit (effectively the ipod becomes your changer) they do both Ainet KCA-121B and std bus KCM-122B leads. Hope this helps
