Fabia VRS '03 - 06 (Whats the difference)

Featured Replies

Hey everyone

I'm looking to purchase a fabia VRS sometime soon in this month. The problem is ive been mainly looking at getting a newer model, someting like '05 or '06 but is there actually any noticeable difference between these newer models and the older '03 and 04 models?

Thanks for any help!

Tony :)

P.S im new to the forum so if the title is a bit vague or im in the wrong place im very sorry! :o

Welcome :)

Some crazy people will tell you about a "horrible stutter" and then slate off SUK about it on post 05 cars ;)

I've got an 07 plate, and, imo, it's not a problem!

you get colour coded door handles on the later ones but you still get the ugly black rub strips down the side of the doors

Only major change aside from the cosmetics of an 06MY> car (rear lights, dash, lock buttons removed at rear etc) was the swapping from the ASZ Euro3 engine to the BLT Euro 4 engine. This as mentioned brought about an engine stutter due to EGR operation. Although this can be lessened it cant be fully sorted and still comply with Euro 4 regs. The earlier 53 plate cars also have a slightly longer gearbox in them.

Either way still a nice car :)

my seat doesnt seem to go as low as some earlier models!!....which is causing havoc with my dodgy knee!!......maybe its just a fault with mine?!!

k:)

The 53 plate I have just bought was next to an 06 plate and I didn't notice any cosmetic differences?

Hmm i get the feeling there aint gonna be much of a difference between the models. Ive been offered an '06 plate with 9,000 miles for

A few nice used ones on here.

The rear lights are different. They changed the clear lenses so as to join the indicator & reverse lights as seen below..... It's about the only external difference i can think of.... Mainly internal additions / changes.

On my old 05 model when you squirted the window washer it would do 3-4 wipes wait 20-30 seconds and wipe again. This feature does not exist on the newer models (well it aint on my SE anyway) Also the mat in the drinks cooler storage holder is missing as is the bit of plastic to remove the tyre valve covers so to keep your hands clean.

Apart from the stutter and the missing battery compartment cover and rear lights they are the same. I guess the stutter is only an issue if youve had a vrs without the stutter & to me it is.

The front grill on our 06 vrs is slightly different to the one on our old 53 plate vrs. The vanes are sort of angled toward the centre on the newer one. On the old one they are just straight....

Cheers

Andy

The newer ones have "one touch indicators".

So you can have the indicators on or just push the stalk for three blinks/ flashes!

It can be enabled.
