Bulb out warning light

Featured Replies

Hi, just wondering if i have a fault or not? according to the manual the bulb out light should light up when starting up along with all the other lights and then come on permimently if there is a bulb out. question is have i got a problem as it never lights up when starting up or is there a mis print in the skoda manual (and all is well)?

What "bulb out" warning light? There isn't one on my Elegance, and I have had a light bulb fail to test it.

It doesn't come on at lamp test on my Fabia vRS - only if a bulb's gone, and only then once you try and turn it on, at which point it lights up and makes the most terrifying buzzing sound! Although, as I discovered, not all the bulbs will set of the warning light if they fail, as one of my numberplate lights went and the warning light didn't go off - presumably those lamps don't draw enough current?

Anyway, back to the original question, if you do have a failed bulb warning system on your car, don't be surprised if you don't see it come on when you turn on the ignition. You could always disconnect a tail light or something and try it out...

Cheers ap0gee; it was indeed a numberplate bulb that had gone (and I did have the "disappearing bulbholder game" when trying to replace it).

cheers for that, the manual said it came on when you turned the ignition on as a pre check, but so far ive not seen it, will try taking a bulb out tomorrow and see!!

Best suggestions would be to try a rear indicator bulb or a stop bulb (accessibility, nothing else).

Cheers ap0gee; it was indeed a numberplate bulb that had gone (and I did have the "disappearing bulbholder game" when trying to replace it).

I had to play that game the other day on mine... had a broken number plate light for a month or so before I replaced the bulb, but never any indication on the dash that one was out...
