Maxidot or not

Featured Replies

I've read a few posts now that have "use the Maxidot to do xyz" and I'm starting to wonder if it's worth getting fitted.

I've a vRS on order due 25/06 so I probably could amend the order. I'm just wondering if it's really worth

Well worth it.

I wouldn't want to be without it myself.

Agree, worth the money. Looks smart, clear to read and nice to be able to choose what/how functions work. You can have the radio display shown in maxidot but as my head unit is large and clear I just leave the maxidot on the multifunction setting.

Does the multifunction steering wheel come with maxidot or can you order maxidot on its own? Either way I like the steering wheel controls too!

Cheers,

I love my gadgets so I was easily persuaded. Phoned up and left a message to add it to my order. Hopefully that will go on without a prob. MF steering wheel doesn't seem to be an option for the vRS, not in the brochure I have anyway.

Ta.

youll also be able to use it with an MFD2 if you decide to upgrade the head unit via one from ebay.

I'm totally the other way - i wasnt that impressed by it over the standard computer you get anyway - i thought it was a waste of money.

Another vote for it here, very good. The radio function tbh is a bit of a waste as it displays very minimal information, but everything else including the function setting is superb. Steering wheel buttons are great too!

Some of us don't have Maxi-Dot and get teased about it ;) , worth the extra imho just to keep the antagonists off your back! :D

Maxidot is a must, particularly if you go for a higher spec car, where you get more control over more functions, e.g. coming home lights, rain closure and reverse dipping mirrors.

Agree-bit of a pain to switch between radio and MFD as you have to go into menus - would have been easier with a one-switch or one-press solution but I find the radio unit high enough on the dash not to be an issue.

I assume it's a club that you'd like to join at some stage then Mr Fish. :D

See what I mean!;)

Is it

It went up in price.

That's a rarity in the UK.

Too right!!

It's the same with Xenon's isn't it.

At least we have brake calipers in the proper colour

I say BUY IT; (got it on mine) if for no other reason than it sets off the dash display nicely and gives you a dinky diagram when a door/boot/hatch is open.

Also it is easier to read than the 'standard' MFD which is half the size and simply LCD.

...and if you don't have it, you have a blanking plate. This plate will always remind you that you skimped on the spec of your new car ;)

I agree, go for it!

I got my vRS 170 a couple of weeks back as a dealer ex-demonstrator car 3 months old, which i am really really pleased with. Anyhow someone 'liberated' the owners manual during a test drive and i am waiting on the dealer providing me with a replacement. With all this talk about Maxidot display, i was wondering how do i identify if my car does or doesn't have it fitted. My display is a blue background with white writing and i can display my radio etc on it, so am i right in assuming this is a maxidot display?

Thanks ... another Skoda Convert

I would say you are right to assume, especially if when the doors are opened the little car comes up on the screen.

And there is so much you can do with it, door locking/unlocking settings etc etc.....

I know it's just a small screen at the end of the day, but sets that part of the dash off nicely ;-)
