Estate rear bumper fitting

Featured Replies

Im on the lookout for a rear bumper for my MKI estate (X) as it has been very slightly shortened at

some point then filled & sprayed badly

Theres one ive just found on ebay which is from an 03 estate and what i need to know is will it

fit straight on or possibly easily enough to make it a worthwhile purchase

Looks the same in the piccy but just need to know for sure

cheers all

If yours is a facelift Mk1 then it will be the same.

No a facelift model has the fogs in the main lights which are the clear optic type.

WOAH!

What's going on there? Nothing fits. It looks like a pre-facelift car fitted with facelift lights, grille and bumper. Hence the big gaps and the grille profile not matching the bonnet.

Is that a photo of your car? What model is it?

yes that is my car ! the gaps between the grill lights and bumper are because the

bumper has dropped slightly and squashed up in the middle after a mild front

shunt and i have a cross member (if its needed) and a new bumper ready to

go on

I do see what you mean about the gaps above the lights though

and its not something i had noticed untill now viewing it at that angle

The top of the grille also looks to be a different profile to the bonnet. I think the changeover for the facelift was around 2000. One of the pre facelift models was the SLXi what model is yours?

The rear definitely looks like a facelift model. I think there's more damage to the front than you think though. The headlights look to have dropped and the grille may have been bent backwards hence the top not lining up.

However to answer your original question the rear bumper from a 53 plate Octy Mk1 will fit.

Yes the grille is a facelift one, however it could be an alignment problem as mentioned in my post above. It should all look alot neater than it currently does. The bonnet and grille look different shades of white in the pic. Hopefully it won't be too much trouble to get it all sorted.
