I wouldn't use sellotape to hold the board in place when soldering, nasty static damage could occur.

Nintendo must be kicking themselves for this as the Gamecube was pretty free of piracy.

But did the Gamecube have regional coding?

Seems to me that as soon as a manufacturer starts doing that, there's going to be some sort of 'back door', as they're not going to make consoles for the US and UK, for example, that radically different, it would be too costly. So they'll go for an electronic 'tweak', that someone's gonna spot eventually :)

The Cube had region coding but the Freeloader disc from Datel got round this with a simple disc swap

Ah right, don't know much about the Nintendo boxes.
