Been meaning to make a post for some time but thought others might benefit from this info. I've had an ongoing grating noise from my Octavia usually when it is under load in 2nd and 3rd gear and lumpy running. Been in and out of dealers persistently under warranty (incidently Simpsons of Colne have been brill - couldn't have been more helpful). Every conceiveable possibility has been checked and indeed new driveshafts fitted, CV joints replaced, software updated, gearbox oil replaced, induction system stripped, and a lengthy test drive and analysis from Skoda Guru engineer bloke. In the end all were thinking gearbox or turbo. Exhaust gas recirculation valve has just been replaced to no avail but it has now been solved by replacing valve block - whatever this is. Noise and uneven running are now cured Hooray! but its popping back in this week because the engine management light has come on and a maxidot message saying emissions workshop! is showing. Hopefully it will be sorted soon. Sorry for length of post but I'm new to this and just thought it might save someone a load of hassle.
