Fabia vRS rear disk thickness

Featured Replies

I've been looking at a red 54 plate vRS at the local Skoda dealer.

Took it for a test drive and really liked it so have decided to buy one as it fits the bill in every area.

the red 54 plate has 32k on the clock, among the few things i asked them to fix in the preparation so i could decide to buy it was to check the rear discs as they were looked quite worn.

Aparently they are ok but whats the manufacturers minimum recommended thickness? I think they may be fobbing me off so they don't have to incur the cost.

the other issues were repair and paint a small crack on the rear bumper and check mountings to align bumper properly.

clean the interior

replace the two rear tyres (I asked if they could get Goodyear Eagle F1's to match the fronts but they bought another brand, not sure what yet).

It would be good to know so i can check the rear brakes and push for getting new ones fitted before i buy it.

Thanks

I had original rear discs on my vRS until 80k when they needed replacing... but I used my car for hundreds of miles a DAY.........

rear discs can corrode if not used often, so they could be suffering, and need replacing....

I'd just get as much done as poss before you buy it...

(don't know the minimum thickness, but scoring can also cause them to need replacing..)

oh, and welcome to briskoda :)

I'd be surprised if they need replacing after that mileage. Only if they are corroded which has already been pointed out.
