My tailgate won't open since last night. When I click the button on the remote I can hear a noise as though it is trying to release but it doesn't pop up in the usual way and cannot be opened by hand. Any ideas anyone?

Not something like a Jacket sleeve or a travel rug in the boot got caught in the lock the last time you closed it by any chance? i have had this before with the strap of a rucksack. Unfortunatly i had to use brute force and ignorance to open it, strong pulling whilst the button was held in.

Drop the back seats and have a look see?

as suggested something caught in the mechanism!
