I was just wondering if there were any disadvantages to running 225/45/17s on my mk 1 Vrs like will it affect my speedometer reading ,slow down the steering etc. The advantage i can see is the bigger tyres are quite a bit cheaper to purchase:thumbup: :confused:

I find mine tramline a bit in the rut's in the roads, the speedo is out by something like 0.39% in other words at 130mph you will actually be doing 129.49 so dont worry about that and i've heard it make's the steering heavy but never noticed much difference tbh

My speedo is actually more accurate with 225's.

225's can tramline as fatty5000 said, just make sure you're pressure is not too high.

My 225's rub on full lock. They were on the car when I bought it and now it's time for a new set I am in two minds about buying 225's again.

Mine are fine, no rubbing on lock etc and the speedo is still the same as before, according to my gps talex.

Haven't noticed any tramlining, they just stick like brown stuff to a blanket!

mine have rubbed on full lock,not a great amount,but visibly noticeable where the under seal has been removed.but how fast do you go at full lock?

Had m 225s fitted a month ago.

Awesome, much better than the 205s before.
