My friend has bought a new car...... OMG!!

Featured Replies

Yesterday, I got up at 430 AM. Thats in the morning. I always thought it was at night. Anyhow, I went to my friends house, picked him up, and set off for Kent. Rainham to be more precise. Greens of Rainham, where they not too long ago took 20 VXR Monaro's and made them a little special.

I lied about that, they are ALOT special.

Take a Black 6.0 litre VXR MOnaro, chuck some 6 pot AP brakes on the front, 4 pots at the rear. Cover those with some 19" wheels, then help them go round a bit faster with a big supercharger, giving this beast 500 bhp!!

My friend asked for the silecers to be taken out before collection........ and the windows tinted.

Here it is :-

0-60 is well sub 5. Top speed OVER 180 MPH!!

It's not about that though......................no........................it's the noise!!!

I can't put into words the noise. If you are interested, Tom Ford off Fifth gear road tested it, and it can be found here:_ YouTube - VXR-500 Monaro

I had a short drive up the M1 on the way back, and I want one so much. It's very very fast, instant power, fantastic traction in the dry, and a noise that the video on you tube simply can't replicate. Imagine an SLR Mclaren Mercedes going through your bedroom, flat out, and you are somewhere close.

I'm genuinely in awe of this car. The sound from the exhaust is simply pant moistening, the sound from the supercharger, well thats just a step beyond.

M5 power, the best noise ever, for half the price.

If you can find on of the other 19 that are left, you would be looking at spending

Doesn't it drive peeps insane that they can't let 'em fly? The speed bumps slowing my 1.4 down drives me barmy - how on earth do peeps cope? :ne_nau:

Speed bumps?

huuuuu nnnnn!!!!!!!

my drawers please i've just soiled these

It was a serious question really. Does the "calming" come from being able to blast on highways abroad periodically? As said, it'd drive me bonkers if all dressed up and nowhere to go.

Mind you, there are probably more private roads Ooop Norf than there are in Sarf London.

The only one near me has a toll gate stuck in the middle, oh, and yes, speed bumps either side, though at 180mph I could probably fly over everything :)

We don't really suffer alot from Traffic calming, as Blackpool is adjacent to some very good rural roads, and a 13 mile long "private" straight "track". ;)

Anyway, back to the car if we may

That is a particularly fine looking car he's bought.

Get him to turn up to a Briskoda meet and there'll be a lot more people showing than normal I think

Superb Dave, just epic. Another uber  thread.

You do know some good people, I'll give you that. Bet the trip back more than compensated for the early rise!

Such a nice motor, easily in my lottery garage top 10 :D

It would terrify me. Both Tom Ford and JC ha difficulty trying to use the power as the supercharger gives instantaneous mind blowing power. A little much for my limited driving capabilities...

For the money Id like the 'security' of an Evo VIII FQ 400...!

just watched the vid... 75mph in first gear?! jeeeezzzz Tom says "that just means the other gears are only there to decide how mad the police are going to be with you..." lol!

Read another review and it states 'rampant wheelspin in 2nd gear @ 80 mph'

Its nowt but a vectra in drag.

Its neck snappingly fast, you would have to wear a collar!

Try Omega/Commodore and you're in the right area.

JC has never tested the supercharged special edition as far as I'm aware. Don't confuse this with the still awesome, but 100bhp less powerful normal VXR.

Dave you should have said earlier that you were down as both Des and myself are only about 5 miles away from Greens.

Have seen a few on the M2 on "test" drives.
