Today's moment of logical thinking

Featured Replies

Bear with me on this one;

I was under the bonnet fitting my lifter strut last night and got to thinking that if the battery and the (massive) case for it weren't there, then

a)there'd be more room in the engine bay (for cold air for example:) )

b)you'd be removing a fair lump of weight from the very front of the car(can only be a good thing for handling:) )

My question then is could you then fit a larger air filter/induction kit (and not be sucking in hot air) thus reducing smoke out the rear or even get more out a remap if there's more air for the mix.

I know jason has moved his battery (not quite sure why he did it) and was just wondering how big a job it is to move your battery to the spare wheel well.

would it be worth it i.e. would the difference in power and handling be noticable.

thanks again

Scott (rapidly dreaming up a "to do" list:D )

This is why. ;) Handling difference is marginal. but I may be losing a little more weight off the front soon.

ah ok, so a lovely red valve and an induction kit would still fit :D

how much work is involved in moving the battery jason?

are the fuses still under the bonnet?

As I see it, you have two options: first is to get a far lighter battery that has the same capacity as the OEM, just make sure it's secured well, or the more involved effort like Jason did. You can buy Welding cable that will make sure that you don't lose too much battery power with a longer lead......

The Fabia vRS has a lot of weight in the front and just moving it back is a good idea if you want a theoretical improvement.

BTW - really nice bracket there Jase - looks great....
