New 19" alloys - Octy VRS

Featured Replies

It's been done before, but I thought I'd share my experiences as I didn't quite find the answer I was looking for on the forums.

OZ superleggy-thingys. 8 x 19". 225/35/19 Uniroyal tyres ET35 (we tried 235s on at first, but there would have been rubbing on the back arches). As far as I can see, there should be no rubbing with the 225s - three of us were bouncing up and down in the boot for ages ( ) whilst a look out watched for tyre contact with the back arches. i can use full steering lock without a problem.

Rolling radius looked almost identical (I'm sure someone will use the tyre calculator to tell me), and it doesn't feel like the acceleration has been affected. As the wheels are super light, I'm fairly certain the the combined weight of the wheels and tyres hasn't increased (it may actually have decreased); certainly acceleration felt the same as ever. Ride quality is fine - a bit more crashy on the bumps, but that's to be expected with 35 profile rubber bands (I have standard suspension)

Overall I am a very happy bunny! Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Oh, by the way, I was originally aiming for BBS wheels, but they are only available in an 8.5" width, 30 mm offset - and they stuck out too far from the arches - definite rubbing, and maybe even MOT failure!

Very VERY nice!

Very nice indeed, they make the brake disks look so small. Especially the rear.

was just going to say that about the disks, does looks very nice though, top work there fella !!!

Much better

Now lower it - you know it makes sense ;)

What price were the wheels and tyres?

Nope, and from a practical point of view I don't think it should be. It doesn't look TOO bad as it is, though....

car looks great, got any other pictures?

Motorsport Wheels in Seacroft, Leeds. They're the importers of BBS and OZ, amongst others - they were very helpful, and we tried on loads of wheel tyre combos until we were happy. They have excellent levels of stock. They'd cost a bit more next time, even if you have my bargaining skills (!) , 'cos we ended up using more expensive tyres than I was quoted for (225s, which are dearer than 235s).

couple of side picture would be good

do motorsport wheels have a website?

Oh - one more thing.... I covered 400 miles, including some excellent country roads, and have heard no rubbing, even under full suspension compression - it's definitely worth going for 225 tyres. As far as I can see, the only compromise for this wheels tyre package is a small amount less compliance in the ride. This is more than made up for by the looks and the improved steering / handling which the shorter, stiffer sidewall and an extra 20mm of tread seem to offer.

www.mswuk.com

They're not really a retailer, though - they're wholesalers; they supply all of the Ripspeeds / Halfords for example.

hopefully see some more pic soon, car looks great
