Noises from engine during hot weather (oct vrs)

Featured Replies

Greetings,

I have a 20k miles octavia mk1 vrs and i've noticed that during very hot days (25-27C+), especially in traffic, when i try to accelerate being below 2000rmp i get a rather loud detonation sound + vibration from the engine as if it's about to stall. It disappears past 2000rmp, and goes away completely during colder times. I've had this since I bought the car, the dealer says that's how it should be. Is that really how it should be?

Thanks

it deffinetly shouldn,t be like that,it could possibly be 1 on the coils going, very common problem on 1.8t engines,if ur car is still under warranty say u want all 4 coils replaced, cant remember if there modified now.

Something wrong. I get that vibration/shudder from the engine only when the rpm is around 1k, AC is on, the car is barely crawling and then I try to pick up speed in 2nd gear. Around 2000 rpm, the car should pull cleanly even in 4th gear, with just the driver. I don't think hot weather has anything to do with this. In Delhi, its 45C, presently. Bomi.

I used to have an AGU 1.8t a few years ago and it was all smooth like you describe, so I had serious doubts about this noise being "normal".

Going to have coils replaced and see if that helps. Thanks much.
