Buying a L&K Views please

Featured Replies

Just going to buy a New L&K 2.0 TDI DSG estate. Anyone got any views on it ie performance fuel consumption etc and any downside.

Downsides...........

ooooooohhhh.........

NAH!

Love mine!

I have had my L & K DSG TDI Estate for about 10 days now. The car is very well equipped and drives very well. It has been bought as a company car and replaces a 3.2 litre Vauxhall Omega Elite which is quite a hard act to follow. The L & K has all the toys that the Elite had, apart from Sat Nav which I was advised by the dealer was not all that good. The CD player is good, the seats are comfortable, if a little hard and much narrower than the Omega. The performance is good, perhaps not the equal of the Omega (which I have for sale if anyone is interested) but not far behind. The one thing I am slightly disappointed in is the fuel consumption which, according to the computer has averaged 40.2 over 800 miles of mixed motoring. Less than I had expected and far less than the 50+ figure that I have read here and elsewhere. I assume that it will improve a little but I cannot believe that it will improve by the 35% it would need to in order to get to the mid 50s. I think that perhaps the combination of the 140BHP engine, the DSG box and the weight of all the L & K toys combine to reduce the consumption. But time will tell. All in all I would say after 800 miles I am fairly satisfied, and nothing has fallen off yet!

We went through the same thought process to replace my Wifes work car. We had previously had a Mk 1 Octy L&K Estate. She does about 40000 a year & the plan is to keep it for 4 years so residuals werent a consideration. We eventually ended up with a Superb Elegance for

Many Thanks all for the advice, looks as though it will be a winnner with me.

Fuel economy improves dramatically as the mileage increases. My 2.0 TDi manual averages 57mpg on my daily commute, with 32K miles on the clock. Just check your oil very regularly. For the first 10K miles the TDi PD engine seems to have quiet a thirst for it.

Will do thanks for the advice

My manual L&K has averaged 43.6mpg in it's first 1000 miles. I expect that to increase quite a bit as the engine loosens up (VW tend to build their engines pretty tight - my old 1.8T didn't start spinning freely until 10,000)

I love mine - the interior is fab. Despite being light grey, it cleans very easily and has survived a camping weekend without a mark.

I have the sat nav unit (and somehow ended up with the iTMC enabled disc which re-routes around traffic - why this isn't standard I have no idea!) and it works very well indeed.

First tank in mine, using brim to brim, showed just under 42mpg. Got ages to go before this engine loosens up so it will be interesting to see how (hopefully!) it improves with each tank of diesel.

picked up my new Diesel 2.0TDI L&K Octy with DSG just over 4 weeks ago - now done over 3000 miles and trip computer gives me around 41 mpg - i commute weekly from Cornwall to London so this is doing long runs (with the cruise set a tad above legal limits!!) I am expecting the mpg to improve with age

My Octavia 2.0TDI was capable of a nice round figure of 50mpg when driven normally, this was also with a loaded boot and a set of ladders strapped to the roof.

It had done about 46,000 miles when it went back and IIRC it was doing about 37mpg when it was brand new.

Mine had a considerable thrist for oil since day one.

I have done about 3500 miles in my 2.0 TDI L&K DSG, averaging about 44mpg on the readout. Mixed Driving. I too hope it improves as the miles pile on. Do the diesels get a bit quieter as well with time as well ?
