which engine is it? & mpg

Featured Replies

Hi

Apparently there two 1.3mpi engines.

1.3mpi 40KW

& 1.3mpi 50KW

How can I tell which one is in my car?

Thanks

PS - i think the official fuel consumption figures are (if i converted correctly):-

1) urban - 29mpg

2) 56pmh - 48mpg

3) 75mph - 32mpg

I think it might be down to whether the 'i' in MPi on the boot badge is black (40kW), or red (50kW). But I don't know that for certain on the Favorit / Felicia.

Look for the engine code, which is in your manual or on the sticker under the boot floor, by the spare wheel. Then have a search on here using that code...

HTH

there was an spi, and an mpi

and then iirc 135 or 136

There are two 1.3 MPi engines, one is the 54Bhp, the other the 68Bhp - bit of a power difference, but probably not too noticeable.

I think you can tell by the beginning of the engine code, TBEG, TBEF etc. Can't remember which is which unfortunately

If you look at the front of the engine near the coil pack you will notice a skoda emblem stamped on the front. If you clean it up with your finger it may be yellow in colour. If it is then it is a 136 MPi engine with 68bhp.

If you have an L model then it is very likely that you have a 54bhp low compression 135 engine. I am led to believe that 54bhp models were single point fuel injection and some earlier models will have distributors instead of a coil pack although others may know more
