creak from the rear (i think!)

Featured Replies

My vrs has a rather annoying creak coming from what sounds like the rear. I've searched for it but just cant find it. I've tried the usual, silicon lube on the door/boot rubbers, spray greased hinges/boot/door latch mechanism and lubed up the rear seat catches. I've check the spare wheel and the tools in it. All to no avail. I know the answer is to throw it back at the dealer and get them to sort it, but the one dealer I would trust is not that local and so I need to make time to get it in. Thats not likely for a few weeks and its driving me nuts. It sounds like it could be plastic or metal on plastic creaking noisec. Anyone any suggestions as to where else it could come from?

Try the plastic trim round the boot lid. You'll probably find that there is give and movement in it causing it to creak. Try inserting some foam or something to pad it out.

Did you try dropping the rear seats to see if it makes a difference. The rear seat catches are problematic.

Its like a loose washer rattling.

Also myself & mcgyver had issues with P/S rear Seat Bolster, mine was rubbing off the door card, also one day I noticed the weld inside the frame was broken which was also giving rattles, the rubbing off the door was probably a result of the shape of the frame. Its a lot better now.

Maybe also check the ski hole or what ever its called between the seats, may not be seated properly.
