I just registered as a new user and have a question. When I switch on the rear window heater on my 2003 Fabia 1.2, the engine power fades and is then intermittent. It does not affect the engine at tickover.

Any ideas welcomed.

Hiya.

You should see some theoretical loss of power when you've got an HRW on, but nothing you'd notice when driving. I suggest consulting an auto electrician, since there's either a major fault in the distribution electrics, or a problem with alternator. They'll probably check the alternator first, and only charge for replacing it if that's the problem.
