Best place to look and read reviews is here AV Forums Home and as an aside read the threads relating to John Lewis, they will price match against an online price so long as the retailer as an outlet as well as a website, and in pricematching they also give a FREE 5 year warrenty

Why would you want someone who's scared of technology to recommend a TV? Are you after one that's particularly easy to use or am I misunderstanding you?

I think he meant technophile

does that mean you keep fiddling with portable tellies

tbh go out to a big shop and find a TV that you are happy with as different people prefer different things so where one person might not be too worried about slightly washy colours and more interested in a bright screen you might be more interested in good blacks the response rate(if its an LCD).

I have a 3 1/2 year old Samsung 42" plasma that i bought before there was such a thing as HDTV  and it works fine and has a decent choice of inputs and although the native resolution is lower it will still display upto 1080i and upto 768 in progressive scan and i have never felt like i bought the wrong TV :)

I think he meant technophile

Most likely, or he could have wanted a technophobe's opinion on a TV that's easy to live with for a non-technical owner.

From what I've seen in that the stuff around

Just got myself a nice Samsung 42" Plasma from John Lewis on the price match.

Pretty recent model (PS42Q97) and can be had for

700 quid for a telly! i need to earn more

i wish mine only cost me

Take a look at the Evesham web site and/or find your local store and go have a look and check specs and prices against others.

I bought their 32" model a few months back and it has a great picture even on std Sky, all their LCD/TFTs get good write ups and are good value for money, especially when you consider they include a three year swap out warranty should you need it.

i've been looking round as i plan on getting a new TV early next year and the winner so far is a Sharp Aquios 52" LCD, compared to the biggest evesham screen it has a slightly dimmer screen but the contrast ration is noticably better and has more usefull inputs(same inputs but where the evesham has component the Sharp has 2xHDMi) and i think the Sharp is much better value where it may cost

*Ppat resists temptation to even look at tv's online 'caus wife will kill him

It's funny how these things catch on. Guy next door caught wind of it and had to come and have a nosey, next thing he's onto his Mrs saying come and look at Stu's telly, we should get one!!

Of course he got the obligatory feck off from her.

rofl, the way i get round things like this is have seperate accounts and just go out and buy it :D

don't mention it untill she walks though the door and asks what all the packaging is from :P

The reason I say it is bought a 42" LCD full 1080 about 4 months ago, but then someone mentioned 52"

And then you know you're getting old when you remember first TV - 17 in -two colours -black and white, and aerial looked like something from radio moscow

:D

hopefully they will drop in price over the next 6 months or so too, either that or the frenchman gets me an awesome deal on a TV :D

Offer's still there mate :) When I get a chance, I'll let you know what's going at a good rate.....

:D

give it a few months and we'll see whats going on.
