LPG conversions

Featured Replies

Anyone had one done, comment on the cost or ball ache etc?

The plain and simple thinking is that should it cost about

I'm thinking of getting my Felicia 1.3 mPi converted to run on Bio Ethanol. It costs about 3-400 euro to do. I have filling station nearby that stocks it. benefits over LPG are that you don't need a tank and you can run on both Unleaded and E85 and mix the two if necesary. Thought about LPG but cost of installation and having a tank in the car put me off.

e85 isnt as common or as cheap at petrol stations

Have been running my Octy vRS on LPG for 70+K miles now,car has 122K miles on clock now.

My Octy isn't standard and i haven't had any issues.

If you do lots of miles then go for it.

Otherwise buy a car thats already converted, you can pick up Vauxhall Astras and Vectras factory converted for 3-4K.

Could be a more sensible option.

Cant see a 1.3 felicia needing LPG???

does mid 40's to 50 on a run if you're sensible and its well serviced?

Apparently soon the government may end the tax break to LPG meaning any conversions won't make up the cost on fuel savings. Might get more out of getting a diesel and trying stuff with veg oil.

The bioethanol sounds interesting too.

They have ended it already.

But its not suddenly going to jump up in cost by 50 pence a litre is it.

To many people worry about this,of course its going to rise in cost, but is petrol going to stay at the same cost?

Of course its not,its going to continue to rise, especially as the whole Climate Change thing is big news now.

So if you do enough miles then a conversion will still save you money.

To many people knock LPG,its a good and viable alternative, and cheaper.

The main issue when my Octy does 700-1000 miles a week.

thanks for the input, im getting good mileage from the car but the cost of petrol is daft, like i said it would take a yr to recoup the cost and from then on half the cost of petrol to run (almost)

i am off to get some quoted for conversion unless anyone can recomend a decent place in Manchester or Liverpool

I've got felicia 1.3mpi '99, venturi with lambda control (sequential was a bit too expensive then, about 1k €, so there was no point in conversion)

Landirenzo SE81 regulator, LCS A1/V05, 27L toroidal tank (33L bruto, couldn't fit bigger, there was only one size for that radius) etc, something like this

consumption is ~ 10-12L/100km in crowded city traffic, and ~7L/100km in open road. 1L of LPG is cheaper (here) than petrol ~ 2-2.5 times
