sticky gear changes

Featured Replies

since going though a big puddle last week my gear changes have become somewhat sticky (octavia vrs mk1). its not too bad still quite driveable, should i leave it hope it gets better or get it sorted? Also what tyres are people currently using, im on continental sport contact 2, cost around

Gear changing problems are common for 5 sp boxes, somtimes its the bushes on the linkage. It may have got some crapp on it.

As for tyres iam on Toyo T1Rs cost about 85-110 depending where you go but i believe they are a lot stickier than the conti but and dont think they last as long

should i get it sorted or will it sort itself out, will try the toyo's.

I had that just before I sold mine. Try giving the it a spray with grease around the gear change shaft that goes into the gearbox.

If you have done over 50k miles a gearbox oil change wouldn't hurt things either and can make the changes a lot smoother too :)
