Fab vRS Brake problem (advice needed please)

Featured Replies

My Dad also has a Fab vrs ..When braking down hard from speed the pedal is going hard and hardly stopping him.

Under normal braking the brakes arnt great and do take a fair push to stop.

The local garage has changed the disc

When was the fluid last changed and does the ABS kick in? :D

No abs.. if he had to do an emergency stop..

The pedal goes hard and eventually stops. (along way down the road)

With the engine off pump the brake pedal until it goes hard. Hold your foot on the pedal and start the engine, does the pedal sink?

mines just the same!.....dealer says thats how it is!!:( .....it does stop ya but not over sharply.....just takes a bit of getting used to

Can't at the mo..its in a "local" garage:mad:

It sounds maybe like a servo problem but skoda reckon they never suffer servo problems.

At 1200 miles, my vRS had a new slave cylinder and a new servo - at the insistence of the regional Skoda tech.

Mine is exactly the same. Can scare ya at times.

brake vacuum pump fault , vacuum hose to servo split or a servo fault

I had a hard brake pedal on a vRS from new, though the brakes were good though excessively sharp. At the first service was told the ABS was inop (no warning light), and they changed something, but strangely, were evasive about what it was and wouldn't tell me.....anyway it cost Skoda

I've just clocked 1000 miles on my SE vRS and have found the brakes to be a bit soft and TBH very dusty. I may consider (once the warranty is up) sticking Octy brakes on their.

If they're a bit soft, I'd recommend doing a few high speed stops and see if they improve. You might find that the pads have become a bit glazed during the running in of the car and need the glazing taken off :D

Failing that, you could always replace the pads with better ones and retain the standard 288mm setup :D
