Fiesta 1.2 Style

Featured Replies

I recently had one of these for four days while Fabia was in for repair and frankly i can see why Ford are in trouble. The car had a 1200 power plant and was the three door form. It was a 56 plate.

The engine seemed very revvy yet with the little power going to the wheels. My dad as a fabia 1.2 12v and this is well quicker than the Fiesta. The Fiesta struggles to do 60mph in third gear.

The build quality was awful with cheap bits of plastic for nearly every part in the cabin. The quirky heated front screen was as useful as a chocolate frying pan. All the handles, switches and steering wheel was plastic ( may i remind you that this was the style model) This compared to the nice chrome finish on the Fabia comfort for door handles etc. You will see below why i compare it to the Fabia comfort.

The handling was the only good bit really and like with so many cars in this sector it had the go kart feel. 60mph through average bends were no problem.

Now you may be asking yourself why i keep comparing this Fiesta to the Fabia Comfort. Well the answer to this question is the price.

While i had the car i looked up on Fords website that the 1.2 style in three door was close on 9k if not more. what ?????????????. Relating this back to the Fabia 1.2 12v Comfort this is only 8.5k ( Mk1 Fabia that is)

So this does just prove that Fabias are such a good value super mini.

One final point to put the nail in Fords coffin is that i saw my Cousins Ford Fiesta Zetec diesel sport. or something like that anyway. Guess What ??? this only has drum brakes on the back !!!!, 10.5 k ++++ for drum brakes. no thanks

i look forward to reading other feedback regarding this

because a small diesel hatch needs rear discs

i have sat in and had a drive of the mk6 fiesta and tbh i can't agree with anything you've said  admitidly it was an 07 plate though.

i have never driven the fabia to compare but i have sat in a few and played with them but can't see a massive difference in quality.

if the heated screen works the same on the fiesta as it does on the focus then it should be quite good as the focus heated screen works brilliantly.

Is that list price? Surely no one pays list price for a ford?

when i went to the ford dealer interested in the new ST they said that even the demonstrators would be going out at full list price there was that much demand

The fiesta style is a 1.25L engine, not a 1.2 :)

Also 60 in third... not that I found it a problem I do have to ask why, when you have 4th and 5th

Either way I totally disagree with your comments, i got a mate one of these new for a touch over

no fords these days come with disks at the rear unless upgraded right? only seen one focus estate with discs.... mind you the new furby doesnt come with disks unless you opt for esp.

No Ford does?!?! I'm pretty sure they do ;)

The 2002 Focus TDCI estates all come with discs all round, as do most fords where they think it might be required.

I think the furby VRS kind of shows that it doesn't really need disks at the back as they rust up due to limited use. The bigger cars tend to have less of an issue with this.

my vRS's rear discs never rusted up...... people just aren't using them enough

I can agree with you in some parts of this review mate, the fiesta mark 6 has been critcised as being plasticky but the engine co developed by yamaha is a gem, nippy, revvy. The only complaint I have about the Fez is that it is noisy on start up and the ride around town leaves a lot to be desired but on the motorway ti excels. My dad had a fiesta which I'm talking about until yesterday and bought himself a 207 and he is already smitten on the 207.

IMHO it is one of the best fiesta's there has ever been and I'm sure the new fiesta will excel when it comes out.

I had a go in a Fiesta recenty but it was a TDCi - think it was a 1.4.

To be honest it wasn't that bad. It felt a little plasticky inside (it's not the quality of the matrials but the design that lets it down IMO). The 1.4 engine pulled well enough and revved better than it's VAG counterparts. It was 'ok' on fuel and comfortable enough. What I did like about it though was the gearchange....nice and solid. It handled badly though, which I found odd as people rave about how well the Fiesta goes round bends. This thing felt very unstable round the twisties.

The bulbous headlights did nothing for me either.

Otherwise though, not a bad little car.

My old man drives a Style Climate+ which he bought at 3 months old for the bargain price of just over £7k from a Ford main dealer! Its the 1.25 version, and for what he paid, the spec is pretty damn good, with front and side airbags, ABS/TC, electric front windows & mirrors, climate control and heated front screen. i've driven it a few times, and I think it handles better than my old Furby, and the 1.25 is an eager unit. Yeah, the interior quality isn't that great, but absolutely nothing has gone wrong with it in the 2 years he has owned it, and servicing is cheap too.

Nothing could touch it spec wise or price wise when he bought it, not even a poverty spec Fabia with the 3 pot engine

My dad now has a mark 6.5 Fiesta which which came into effect from 2006 - till the new fiesta came in a couple of years ago and his is a 1.25 Zetec climate, compared to the Mark 6 Fiesta he had before I can say that I prefer the Mark 6.5 it seems to be a bit better quality I think they changed the plastics and replaced the 3 bit radio which you got on the mark 6 with a double din radio I think. He always thought the 1.4 Fiesta Mark 6 he had was always a bit noisy but he has had no complaints with the 1.25 that he has the now and has covered about 10000 miles in two years usually taking in a few holidays in it as well which and the car performs well it's nippy and can keep up with traffic, for the trim level he has, he has air con, electric heated mirrors, electric folding mirrors, heated front and rear screen.

My dad's car was originally from Jersey, and his local Ford dealer purchased a joblot from there. Mileage was negligible on them too. Other local dealers were charging at least a grand more for the same spec, and offered my dad much less for his old Fiesta (54 plate Finesse, ex Ford press fleet), which he also paid stupdly little for when it was 5 months old!

Same my Dad's car from Jersey as well, the dealer he bought it from sources them from there, only came with 500 miles on the clock.
