Octy VRS ICE install, the tale so far!

Recommended Posts

So I though to myself it would be a good idea to sort out the poo sounding factory fit system in my vrs before going to Le Mans, so far I have -

  1. Changed the front speakers to Kenwoods
  2. Changed the rear speakers to Pioneers
  3. Skined knuckles getting amp cable through bulkhead
  4. Changed head unit to a Sony CDX-GT300s with iPod interface
  5. Installed a Kenwood KAC-649s 4ch amp for speakers
  6. Installed a Sony xplod 2 ch amp for the ......
  7. .... Pioneer 'free air' 25cm sub!

Now just waiting for some git to send me a amp wiring kit to hook it all up! Am interested to see what the free air sub is like as it needs no box!

Will post pics when finished!

:D

Looks interesting, but I'd look carefully into the IB (Free air) sub before mounting it.

You'll need a very solid baffle to mount it through, and ideally the boot has to be as near as dammit sealed from the cabin to give optimum SQ and depth.

They are generally suited to saloon cars for this reason, as they have a virtual box in the boot. Hatches pose a much bigger problem for IB.

I'll also be installing my stereo in a VRS when it comes around August :D
