Replace Continentals on 1.8 vRS?

Featured Replies

I know this has been discussed before but I can

SportContacts2? Don't rate them personally, but they were on my 1st vRS when I got it. If you do consider changing to 225x45x17, then you can't go wrong with Pirelli PZero Rosso's.

why do you feel that using v-rated tyres is a "downgrade"? There is no benefit in using a higher speed rating tyre

In my experience, if you can get them in the right size, Goodyear F1's are great, and good value too :)

Well, it is a notifiable modification, and the speed rating of the tyres takes into account other things than just the maximum speed of the car, such as cornering and braking ability, and maximum GVW.

I have Eagle F1s on my OCty RS Mk1, the grip is anmazing compared to the standard Contis, which are very expensive too. I followed the advice on the forum and changed sizes to a 45 profile which has saved cost too, but you have to buy 5 (one for the spare ideally).

Wet grip is good too.

I use F1's on my 4x4 Sierra Cosworth, including track days, and the wear rate is much better than I'd expected.
