Dont Make Same Mistake I Did

Featured Replies

i'll set the scene for you. Decided to cut lawn today. Took grass cuttings to local skip. Grass all over boot decided to wash car and hoover out at local carwash (cant wash by hand in germany some stupid law about contaminants in drains!)

Went through carwash no probs. Pulled up to use hoover turned engine off and left keys in ignition so that stereo worked. Started to hoover out front of car and must have knocked the lock doors button.

Shut front door went to open back. Much to my dismay (and everyone elses amusement at the carwash) all doors where locked. Now as i live in germany i obviously have spent loads of time learning the local lingo NOT. So trying to get a mobile off someone to make a phone call (Wallet, house keys and mobile also in car:mad: ) was like trying to get blood out of a stone (Must be the bald head). In the end some good looking woman leant me her phone (id like to think its cos of my good looks but i reckon it was more out of pity:rofl: )

Anyway rang SWMBO told her not to go out and explained what had happened which again she found highly amusing:finger:. Then had to run 6 mile round trip to get home and get spare key which obviously cheered me up no end:mad: . Big  to the garage owner tho as (apart from laughing) he stood by my car to make sure no tea leaf had it away whilst i was gone.

So the moral of the story is

1. Dont touch the lock doors button when cleaning car:rolleyes:

2. Dont leave keys in ignition.

3. If you live in a foreign country learn the local lingo:rofl:

Hope this gives you all a laugh even if it is at my expense

Carl:thumbup:

Made me chuckle.

Similar happened to me at a hand car wash, the AA got the keys out in 30 seconds flat though... :(

Id say dont leave the keys in the car anyhow, nothing to stop some oik hopping in and doing the off with you and the hoover hanging out the back..lol

Ive nearly done that a few times:O dont beat yourself up about it:)

Thought the radio worked without key in?

hahhahhaahahahah lol still laughing

I think the local lingo in this scenario is "SCHEISSE!!!" "MEIN GOT IM HIMMEL!"

And then perhaps, "OH NEIN, MEIN SCHLUSSEL!":D :P

Think of the exercise you got though. ;)

I take it from your user name you might be in the REME trade? You could have done with a VM maybe!!!! Sounds like a typical Recy Mech thing to have done!!!!

Only joking! Yep I am a Vermin.

I went in Italy last summer, and my wife wanted the key to get something from the boot .

The key loked in the boot , the spare one home and the best solution after 4 hours of searcing was to break the window of the rear door.

That trip was a bit unlucky after a cip on the windscreen and a explosion of a rear tyre at 200km/h I have to drive with a plastic on a door.:(

What I sugest is to find a place arrount the car wher to hide the spare key and have acces to it in unfortunate cases like this.

dont insult me im not REME  i work for a living:rofl: . Im infantry for my sins:rofl: . But still could have done with a VM:rofl:

D'oh!! I bet you won't do that again in a hurry! I've not yet had the misfortune of doing anything like that yet... BUT, I'm still young, so its bound to happen sooner or later! :D

You tricked me with your user name and Avatar! I shall make sure I don't fall foul of the same Dilema!

Id say dont leave the keys in the car anyhow, nothing to stop some oik hopping in and doing the off with you and the hoover hanging out the back..lol

He's taken the ultimate precaution to prevent that,

he lives in Germany!

I'm always amazed at Satnavs, Faces on Stereos, Cameras, Mobiles etc

on full view in unlocked cars in city centres in Germany.

It's like those "good old days" your parents / grandparents told you about ...

"when I were young etc ..."

My GF is likewise amazed at my paranoia when parking my car here in England.

Id say dont leave the keys in the car anyhow, nothing to stop some oik hopping in and doing the off with you and the hoover hanging out the back..lol

Very true. A lad at work lost his van while he was unloading stuff out the back with the keys in the ignition (he had the lightbar going so had the engine running so as not to flatten the battery). Never saw the van again, despite police efforts.:(

i would have just smashed a window.... 6 miles is way to long to run

Not on a 3 month old car. Id rather run 6 miles as im a stingy T**T:rofl:

Took the AA man more than 45 minutes to get into mine when similar happened. Wasn't the window opening thing like on the Golf for you, was it? (Not wanting to give too much away, even if this is the Freedom area...)

should of been a scaley back.. more money and less running.. :D

although
How Much:eek:

I get more than Quadruple that and thats before i add on LOA and other stuff for being in Germany. Even a private soldier in the Infantry gets more than that

That was ten years ago! ;)
