Octavia Scout

Anyone know if the 140bhp 2.0TDI engine in the new Octavia Scout has a proper dpf ala the PD170 or the stupid system used in the Superb ?

Now I have two dogs (got another pup at the weekend) I think a life style change will be in order beggining of next year, so the vRS will prob be chopped in against a Scout, or an older Audi Allroad depending on whats avail for the equiv money.

It's the offroad ability that I need. The breeders we went to, to get the second puppy live in the middle of the countryside up a steep hill, with a very bad rough track which I had to crawl up at slower than walking pace in the vRS.

Made me realise that when the pups are fully grown, and we start to do a lot more walking, I'll need to get up similar tracks. I don't want a typical 4x4 (aka landrover) as I won't need that kinda of offroad capability, plus a want decent-ish road handling.

Also I want to stay with in the VAG range because of the tools, and knowledge I have (including VAG-Com) so that leaves me with the Octy Scout and Audi Allroad as the only two proper estates with offroad ability in the range.

But I want the diesel (only if it has a proper DPF) as the FSI lump is pants for tuning.

According to the PDF yes it does have the DPF.

I thought these were difficult to tune though!?

Yeah but there's two types from what I understand. The DPF on the PD170 is a decent one, but the supurb's retro fit dpf is carp.

Need to know which one it is on the new scout so I don't make the mistake some Supurbs buyers may have done.

I'm new to this site so bear with me! Thanks.

I've driven an Octavia Estate for just over 5 years now (well, 2 Octavias actually, as I had a change of companies 3 years ago!) Excellent car and very happy with them. Sadly since the arrival of number 3 child, the back seat is just too narrow for the little darlings, especially so that no.3 is in a car-seat.

I've not managed to actually look at the Scout 4x4 yet, but can anyone tell me if the new model is any broader in the beam than the old model?

I think it looks jolly good in all other respects. And if its bigger I'll get one!

Thanks to 'Skodaland' in advance.

nope no bigger at all, just higher ground clearance, and some plastic body moudlings to protect "vulnerable places"

Auto Express has a had another drive in one and seems to quite like it.

In fact it would seem that several people have been getting mucky in it

The more I see of this car the more I like it, especially as it is clear that it can get fairly muddy! Perfect for me. Just need to find some money somewhere to get one......
