Dashboard Illumination via VAG COM

Featured Replies

Can you change the Dashboard Illumination on the Octy vRS or is this just a Audi TT change, i found this.

Waks Wide Web

There are four lighting modes:

Mode 0: Nothing lit until ext. light on

Mode 1: Pointers lit all the time

Mode 2: Scales lit all the time

Mode 3: Pointers and Scales lit all the time

Best bet would be to log in and have a look.

Might give it a go tomorrow.

It can be done by editing the EEPROM but I've never seen it done using vagcom. Just be sure too make a note of the original code before you make any changes.

I tried it but the option isn't even there for my module - channel 19 is just blank.:thumbdwn:

Pity as that would've been useful to me.

I have read the guides on changing the hex coding on the units on the TDi forums. I would imagine that as long as you knew the values you needed that could be possible.

Audi is the only brand that allows this change, but people have made changes to the instrument cluster software (which is supposedly what Stu meant with hex values) that added this feature. This isn't a VAG-COM thing though.

I thought about setting mine to have the dash illuminated all the time, I think the climatronic display looks better being lit. I didn't bother in the end but I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to modify the wiring on the switch?
