When Motorsport Goes Wrong!!

Featured Replies

Firstly, i am ok apart from a stiff neck.

However the car is a different story.

This weekends racing at blyton ended in tears as MK1 rallycross car hit the barriers at speed and destroyed the car. It looks like it should just be a new wing and bumper from the pictures, but there is lots of chassis damage.

The front subframe is pushed back and cracked, one engine mount is broken, the bulk head has also split with the force of the impact. The roof has been pushed up, and the floor creased. You will also see that the suspension turret has been pushed back (strut and strut brace are both bent).

We have taken the decission to reshell the car and make a completely new one AKA "mk2". Watch this space.

Well Si, as they say, Fwd it takes time to master...none of this 4x4 luxury ;)

The point is Si, you are okay and now for real reasons can't attend the track day, although we could get you as the official press camera van owing to a lack of Citroen DS's.

:( - will this mean the 4x4 will be charging around Brunters?

Some of the chassis ripples in that damage look similar to mine. :D

Seriously though, glad your okay.

Bet the word "Bugger" sprung to mind when you were understeering towards the wall.

Take it you can't claim whiplash of the insurance :D

cheers for the comments col. ;)

The problem was, it was wet (big downpour just before my race), there was a surface change (gravel to tarmac, which is like marbles) and no run off space. I was really gutted to as i was in second place, challanging for the lead in one of the finals.

We will be back soon with the new car

si

Glad to see your determined to get back out there Si.

Now where was that thread about track day insurance...

Ooops

The second one (red) looks horrendously similar to Paul's tavia

:smashfrea dont worry si il have you back racing again in may  You could always (borrow) mine si, i mean mines neally done and just looks like your old one  but a little straighter ,as i ve said to you before your not trying unless you come home with a few scratches, so you must of been on the boil to bend it like that, anyway as long as your ok thats all that counts,

I've got some T-Cut if that's any use :D

si looks a bit saore this morning with his collar on......

not sure how that helps his ****.....

am sure he will recover and fight another day....unlike the pug...

....should have used a skoda they are stronger:thumbup:

Shouldn't have let the future Mrs Horton take it to Tesco :D

..should have just left it in the drive and polished it :D

The process of stripping it has started, it's currently up on stands with all the front end off and the engine ready for removal, cheers ric

MK2 shell is currently been sourced, and hopefully we it shouldn't take too long to transfer all the parts across. I have one more tricky job left, keep SWMBO happy now..

Weeellllll, if you're not man enough..... ;)

Si, it doesn't look too bad, I've certainly seen worse and done worse than that. Hope you get MK2 up and running soon.

Si,

Bad luck mate - but was we say in rallying theres 2 types of driver - those who have rolled and those who will roll.. You got out OK and its only your wallet and pride thats hurt.

Still, the tyres look OK.. (OK bad joke)

Paul..
