Lost Power!! 1.9 tdi

Featured Replies

I have just done a long journey in driving rain and road spray. On my way back my 2000 octavia 1.9 tdi (90hp) started to become a bit hesitant, if i put my foot down at 80, she would not budge then surge then hesitate again, after my run i slowed onto backroads and the car seemed to be running great. i returned 20 mins later and drove it for about 5 miles and it drove like crap!! i noticed a distinct lack of turbo whine and a reluctancy to accelerate, with the clutch dipped the car revs fine, but with no turbo whine. When i got back home i looked into the airfilter box to find the airfilter soaked and splashes of water in and around the intake to the MAF.

Has anyone experiened this before? Does all return to normal once dried out?

Please help!!!!!!!!!

Replace the air filter, if it is soaked then the air cannot pass through it sufficiently.

Thanx, will try that at some point today. The car feels a little better this morning, but still not on full form. I think i am going to look at making a mod so that water spray will not enter the air box, i notice that skoda have conveniently placed this facing forward in the middle of the grille!!

Might I suggest a Carbonio CAI then? After a conversation with a mate who'd done an "odd" turbo installation, I've confirmed a theory that these parts will make a difference to anything with an EMS as long as you don't max out the injectors.
