Fan settings in climatronic

Featured Replies

Hello guys, does anyone know how to set increase of climatronic fan speed in auto mode, I face freezing of evaporator, I suppose due to low air flow, filter new, gas quantity and pressures OK

it sets itself the speed. the whole purpose of climate control is to maintain the temp.

or just set its speed in manual mode.

welcome to briskoda.

You are right but I suppose, having these symptoms, that original fan speed setting might be one bar too low. How to increase that and still stay in auto mode?

You can't.

I'd get the dealer to check if you're having compressor issues. You could have a blocked inlet (common)

Climatronic tested in workshop, pressures OK, gas and oil filled in in proper quantities, VAG no comments, they say no failure. But driving several km at constant speed with temperature set to 20-22 deg the air flow goes down in spite the fan working, in most cases 2 bars in fan indication, when fan speed increased manually it sounds speeding but no air in cabin. Evaporator probably freezes blocking air flow, after Econ being pushed for a while and Auto again climate works perfect. Do you have any idea?

The car is Octavia II 1.9 tdi

My guess is that it's redirecting air through the floor / windscreen vents, rather than the dash vents which blow into you directly. If you turn the temp down does the airflow blow through the dash vents again (it should do if it's reasonably warm outside)?

I wondered this too, because the auto light goes out, but I suspect it is still more or less in auto a/c mode if you lower the fan speed [too noisy!! ] but it will be slower to get to the selected temperature.

All vents give proper performance, all componets in perfect condition, the only thing is freezing of evaporator mainly when fan display is on 2 bars position. After switching to Econ for a couple of minutes (to let melt the ice) and back to Auto works again properly for some time. And this appears only at stable road conditions and constant speed not the case in city driving. Observed this at 2 deg outside and now at 30 deg as well.

Gas quantity as on label, filter new, pressures appr. 1,5/11 bar
