Locking fuel cap

Featured Replies

I notice yesterday when getting some fuel... i forgot to unlock the fuel cap but could just unscrew it anyway... and on closer investigation the lock doesnt work.

Looked on ebay and found this:

eBay.co.uk: Skoda Felicia 98> Locking Fuel Cap-BRAND NEW (item 150132355741 end time 20-Jun-07 18:55:50 BST)

But im confused at why how it can be sold like this and come with keys... i thought that the locking cap would be the same lock as the doors and ignition... or are they just blank and you get them cut to your locks and they have another pattern on them that will only fit in that lock??

Any suggestions??

Thanks

The keys that come with the fuel cap are already cut and will only fit the cap

you'll just have another key on your keyring fob

I got a barrel ordered for woody's door and they offered to code it to original key specs- may work with caps too (from the stealers?)

It's got nothing to do with coding

the petrol cap will have different pin-tumblers so will need a different key

Interesting! I'd have thought they could have made the lock on the cap to the same setup as original key?

ie similar principal as to how I'm getting a new barrel that will (hopefully!) fit the current (original) key for Woodie?

His key works doors, boot, igniton and fuel cap

If you order a locking cap from a dealer they should be able to order it to key number, if not they should be able to retumble it to your key.
