Opening fabia headlight unit

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how to remove the front lens off the headlights or know if it's possible? I have a styling mod I want to make to them but need to remove the front lens in order to carry it out. I'm assuming that it's not gonna be the same as my old mk2 Golf GTI where I left them in my oven at 170 degrees for 5 minutes, unless I want melted plastic lenses along with my new mods! :)

TIA

Nick

i got a few flys stuck in mine:( what mod you got planned?!:)

how did the flies get in there? I had somecondesation in mine once but it did eventually dry up.

do all fabia vrs have xoen headlight or only if stated i am going to buy a second hand one and want those lights just want to know if they are standard or an added extra, do that make that much of a difference

Xenons are an option.

Pretty sure the lens is bonded on the headlight.

Its really easy, if you remove the headlight from the car, you will see some silver clips (i think there is 7 of them round the lense), pop these off with a flat head screw driver (or other prying device:) ), then you will need to heat up round the join with a hot air gun, but be careful not to heat too much as it will distort the lense!!! :(

when it is hot enough you will be able to gently pull the lense off the headlight case.

Then it is up to you :D

I painted the surrounds on the headlight black and they look pritty good really

as you can sort of see in this pic

Looks excellent!!

BUT

 Why is there a cross over your Skoda badge?

Hahaha, I don't believe it luke, that's exactly what I'm going to do. I was thinking how original it was going to be and someone's already done it! B*gger. LOL :) Oh well, I'm still going to do it. Think I'm going to vinyl mine tho, as opposed to painting it. Looks great so I'll get onto it after I've come home from Glastonbury. Want to get it done before BVF. :) Cheers mate, you're a star.

Its isnt exactly original (although looks smart). Some european spec Fabias have it as standard on the lower spec cars.

Lol, you can tell how much notice I take of things then. Still, it's an almost original touch for the UK... ;)

BTW Luke, awesome picture up there, good skills. If I keep praising you can I have a free anti-roll bar? ;)

Haha :P

The only reason i done it was because i was getting fed up with not being able to find any after market lights for the fab that are right hand drive, then i came across a picture of a european spec fab with black inserts and thought it looked quite good
