.... thinking of this but can't find much info about how well the 60hp / 6v engine copes. Anybody own one or even tested one ?

I've got a Fabia 2 1.2 12v and it seems lively to drive. Its fairly low geared so makes up for the lack of outright power. Will get up to 70 on suitable roads without any trouble.

Thanks for the replies... I still don't know anyone who can vouch for the 6v 1.2 - I feel nervous in buying one based on the salesman telling me that it is ok (as per my post in the 1.2 engine thread).

So the question still stands... anyone own or test driven a 6v and what was it like....

this probably wont help but my dad as the 1.2 12v from one of the late mk1 Fabias. From dealer knowledge we believe its the same engine which went into the mk2 fabia. The engine itself climbs well and is nippy but that is it. dont expect any extra for over taking etc. Depends what you want the car for though. If you do town driving then it is ideal. Fuel is a bit of an issue though. long runs driving steady you can get 45 mpg, short journeys are 30mpg ish.

Just thinking about it a few years ago my dad had a mk1 fabia 1.2 6v in classic trim. Very slow and very fuel hungry. Remember though if you go for any 1.2 go for fabia 2. This way you will get wider tyres etc over the Fabia 1
