MkII vRS 0-60 & 1/4 Mile Times

Featured Replies

Having just enjoyed a most pleasant day at GTi International I had three runs on the sprint course and got the following times:

Run1: 0-60 - 6.81secs 1/4 mile - 15.793secs

Run2: 0-60 - 7.17secs 1/4 mile - 14.790secs

Run3: 0-60 - 6.59secs 1/4 mile - 14.867secs

Run1 was a bit of a balls up as I forgot about the 1/4 mile run and just blasted to 60 then eased up :o

Run2 is strange as the 0-60 is my slowest yet the 1/4 mile is the quickest

Run3 I thought was just about as good as I got it although I was a little slow getting of the line.

A bit dissapointed with the figures but what was interesting is that there was a Golf MkV GTi with slightly fewer modifications but essentialy a StageII mapped car with 3" TBE & one of those Carbonio Intakes and yet posted 0-60 times well under 6secs and 1/4 mile of under 14secs. Crucially though, this car was fitted with a DSG and Launch Control which really impressed as to the quick off the line acceleration.

I think I figured out the 1/4 Vs 0-60 times.

I believe the 0-60 is radar detected from the moment you set off, but I "think" the 1/4 mile starts once that green light comes up. I didn't really like the on/off style start and would have preferred traffic light style starts. :) I guess if you'd had the best reaction times on your fastest 0-60, it would have logically been fastest 1/4 too. :)

Have to say those figures are a touch confusing.

I know its bloody disappointing, but don't get too bogged down with the figures mate - you know how well it drives on the road, and thats what matters when all is said and done.

Is this Mk2 no1 or Mk2 no2?

Launch control and DSG would be good for say 0.5s to 60, so that makes sense IMHO. :)

I know what you mean by 'figures', been through all that with the REVO debacle on claimed bhp!

Like what has been said in many a thread, it's the way a car hanles and delivers the power is what matters and on that front I'm over the moon
