New Insurance quotes

Featured Replies

I have just been ringing around trying to find the best quote for my Octy vRS,

I am 35, full N/C and live on the south coast.

Direct Line :

Check carefully as I have a friend who had to go through great lengths to get insurance monies out of Elephant.

I've got my fabia vrs insured with elephant, and they were the cheapest.

Haven't needed to put a claim through (phew!) so can't comment on that.

Modifying your insurance if you have to is very easy too. You can even do it online without ringing them up as long as you change a "normal" parameter such as annual mileage...

But they are certainly not mod-friendly from my experience.

If you want to chip your car / make other performance or cosmetic-related mods, I'd go with LV. Otherwise, if after reading all the small print, the elephant quote seems comparable to DL and Tesco, go for elephant as they're cheapest.

Currently with elephant......want the upper end of three hundred notes if I declare a K&N filter and Forge DV!!!!!

But they were the cheapest for me' date=' as well!![/quote']

Actually, when i had the Astra they were quite reasonable for any "normal" mods like brakes, suspension, filters etc.

But they seem to hate re-maps with a passion.

Elephant quoted under

I am 31 never mad a claim in 14 years of driving no points and L&V wanted

Did have an argumentative day where I told them that asking if I were single was discrimination according to the discrimination act 1975:

3.-(1) A person discriminates against a married person either of sex in any circumstances relevant for the purposes of any provision of Part II if-

(a) on the ground of his or her marital status he treats that person less favourably than he treats or would treat an unmarried person of the same sex' date='

Good for amusement, seeing as they do quotes with a dice![/quote']

By the same grounds though could you not argue asking, your age and sex is discrimation?

I was insured with Elephant for 3 years (first year they charged

:worried: Beware of Elephant if you have to claim.

My son got swiped by a Police car doing a high speed chase 10 days befoe Xmas 03, Elephant sub contracted the claim, repair, and loan car arrangements.

The car was taken to THEIR approved dealer, and up till 2 weeks before the car was returned, he was getting letters from elephant requesting 2 quotes to repair the car

He has had the car back now for 6 weeks and STILL has not had the xess, returned ( not his fault ). The police admitted liability.

Just tried the elephant online quote after seeing them mentioned. Seemed about par for the course (about the same as DL) until I tried adding a chip and springs into the equation - it doubled the quote!! 900 to 1800!!! ouch. Tried Greenlight the other day after seeing their name mentioned as well, but, and I quote,

"Unfortunately we are unable to quote a modified in your particular postcode(M) area due to our bad claims experience over the last 2 years.

We have an underwriter that can cover this but they only take on driver over the age of 25."

*sigh*. Roll on my 25th birthday.
