rear door wont open

Featured Replies

can anyone give me a clue. the rear door to my 2002 octy wont open from the outside. it open fine from the inside.

had the door panel off but cant see anything amiss. it feels as if the handle isnt travelling far enough something out of line or maybe broke i dont know

be glad of any advise

cheers alasdair

You checked the child lock switch?

I would generally expect the child lock switch to disable access form the inside, rather than from the outside - unless it is neither set to enabled or disabled and it is upseting the mechanics...

the cable has come off the back of the door handle . open door look for a little grommet in the side of the door at the side of the lock.remove it inside is a gold torx screw pull out handle undo the screw keep checking by pulling the lock blank out, dont unwind it to far as it'll fall into the door. when it comes out you'll see a little cablewith a plastic end it clips into the side of the handle. simple as?

i could have done with that information a month ago, she failed the mot on it last wednesday,(didnt know it is part of the test) and in a pannic i stupidly tried the child lock and closed the door doh. end result had to cut the handle to get a bent screw driver in and open the door. once i had it open could then remove the panel and the lock mechanism to see how it all works. all sorted now and passed

thanks anyway calvin

cheers al
