1.4tfsi

Featured Replies

Slightly off forum maybe but has anybody heard about Skoda getting hold of the tsfi 1.4 VW engine? I have seen it specced for a Jetta and just wondered

Reading the spec about this on paper this sounds ok on performance and the dreaded co2 stuff.has anybody driven this engine? or even seen one on the road?

I think we'll be seeing a 1.8 TFSI (160bhp) to replace the 2.0 FSI (150bhp) before too long.

That only leaves the 1.6 FSI (115bhp) , and I don't think that the more expensive 1.4TSI (140bhp) would be an ideal replacement for that.

I've seen a couple of Golf GTs with the 170 bhp 1.4TSI and they never seem as fast as the owners think they are and it's apparently not very torquey

Heard mixed reviews about the 'twincharger' engine. Honest John raved about it on the radio (no, really, he was on "You and Yours"!) I've also seen other reviews that have panned it. Don't really know enough about it to say which opinion is more valid, but as Dr Z's said, it doesn't really have a home in amongst the VAG engines...

I'm pretty sure we'll get the 1.4 TSI in the Mk2 fabia VRS along with the PD140.

In a smaller car it should work ok and won't overlap with bigger turbocharged engines in the model range.

I remember reading an article in the Times by "love him/loathe him" Clarkson. He didn't seem to like it very much!

I especially like the metaphor used to describe the jerkiness of the engine at delivering power. Made me chuckle.

Oh and Davem, if you've been reading any reviews of the new Mondeo you may want to consider the Ford, it sounds a great car.

My car share mate has just got a new Mazda 6 2.0d (143) TS. Really nice car. Lovely inside with dark grey wood/metal trim (hard to describe). Very roomy and very comfortable. He's chuffed to bits with it.

Jezz has spoken and speaking as a 6'4 Curly headed person witha penchant for obscure 70s rock, we have a lot in common. alas Masseratts and GT40'S are out of my league. Wheres Chris Goffey when you need him:mad:

The mazda 6 is a decent car and worth a look if Skodas aren't available.

I'd also see what you can get in the new Mondeo range.

Oh , and just cause you have no Skoda it doesn't stop you from visiting as plenty of the local layabouts will confirm :)

You joke about the Fiat Croma but I saw the other day on drive the deal that you can get the very top of the range 200PS diesel 2.4litre that lists at over

honestley I looked at a 130bhp 1.9 croma in top spec, but memories of my black fiat 127 1300TC which fell apart at a wet weather forecast still gives me horrors:eek:

I have booked a test drive of a Golf 1.4TSI just to see what the engine is like.

In the absense of Skoda, Current Favourite seems to be Jetta 2.0Tdi Sport or SE Spec. But what is that but an Octy with a Chelsea postcode. So Mazda 6 looks the deal at present:confused:
