testing lambda probe

Featured Replies

Hi.How can I test my lambda probe on my car , 1992 Favorit and how can affect the performance of the engine.Thx.

With the engine hot and idling, put a voltmeter across the terminals. Should give 0.7v.

Hi .I want to aks you : when the CO mixture is small ,the lambda probe is giving a low voltage and if the mixture is hi ,the voltage is hi??How does a lambda probe act when is defective or old : the tension is "out of range" or the tension is varying very quickly??Thx a lot.

By high, you mean what we'd call "rich" (too much fuel for the engine to burn it properly)? If so, then yes. The excess fuel cools the sensor, which then draws more voltage to heat itself back up.

I've never heard of the voltage varying quickly whilst the revs stay constant, but if it's out of range, then the sensor is U/S, yes. Annoyingly, I can't actually find a reference to what the limits actually are though.
