Rust!!!!

Featured Replies

Have found some rust:mad: on my 03 car.

The metal strips running down the n/s rear pass window has started to bubble at the base.

Can these be replaced, if so, how, and from where?

Thanks:rolleyes:

Do you have a photo so we can advise you better.

I'm not 100% sure which but you mean.

I think he means the black bit of metal that seperates the main part of the window from the quarterlight on the rear doors? I've no idea if its a seperate part or not though , sorry.

No means for pics at mo. On the rear pass. doors the glass is split by a black metal strip which seperates the wind down window, and the fixed corner section this then terminates under the furry rubber strip at the base of the widow. Where this meets the main bulk of the door under the 'furry strip' has begun to rust.

You can certainly remove that strip from the door, looking at my Haynes, it shows the black strip being removed with the small piece of glass behind it. I would imagine it would then separate from the glass too but the manual doesn't say!

Ah yes , I know the bit you mean.

It can be removed from the door somehow so there's no reason why it couldn't be popped off - resprayed and then refitted or replaced by one from a scrappy.
