Just changed gearbox oil...

Featured Replies

When I got my vRS, the gear change was a bit stiff/clunky when cold. I decided to change the oil so looked about and Silkolene Silktran 5 seemed to be recommended. After putting in the silkolene the gear change was awful! First to second when cold just didn't happen without double-de-clutching. I have lived with it for a while (laziness) but today I was in the local dealers so I got a couple of bottles of standard synthetic gear oil - What a difference! The change is so smooth now, it feel brand new. It's amazing how little things can make the whole driving experience so much more enjoyable! The point of the post is just incase anyone else has similar problems.:D:D

Synthetic gear oil is a waste of time in our boxes (bit late I know now) IIRC the standard oil isnt synthetic its just a regular multigrade gear oil.

The stuff I have put in is the standard oil, it says 'synthetic based' So I suppose it's fancy mineral oil lol.
