Fabia Sport - Difference in specs?

Featured Replies

I was looking at a Fabia Sport 1.2 12v today, registered April 06 and was surprised to see it didn't have air con as I thought they all came with aircon. The dealer told me that this model was just on the changeover where they came with heated seats instead of aircon.

It seemed to have all the other usual sport bits and pieces, but just wondering whether anyone can tell me more about exactly when this happened and whether there are any other small differences in spec? Like is this model likely to have a cool flip key or not (as I know they stopped those at some point) or whether it has an alarm as I have seen some advertised with these?

Thanks for your help :)

Very odd, I also though they all come with a/c, might have been a missbuild.

Deffo a 1.2 yeah?

There were some **** ups with the early ones. Can't remember the exact details but it was something like they didn't have aircon and the central locking had to be retrofitted.

Dont think any Fabia except the vRS came with a flip key.

I too thought they all came with a/c.

Elegance has a flip key doesn't it?

There were a lot of **** ups on the Sport but that was the earlier 1.4 16v versions, retro fit electric windows and CDL is nasty on a new car.

THink the changeover was aroundabout when I got my 1.4 sport, hence why it was being sold cheap. Mine had air con, didn't know they'd not put air con in the 1.2's!!

I thought any with standard remote cnetral locking had flip keys? Mine didn't because they fitted my remote central locking afterwards for free because the new 1.2's were going to have it......

The 1.4 16v part was the biggest **** up, lol.

Not sure on the Elegance key...? The Sport definitely doesnt though.

My Elegance had a flip key :)

Thanks for your help guys and gals. Keep em coming :)

It was definitely the 1.2. Sounds like Skoda UK must have ordered a batch and ticked the heated seat box instead of the a/c one by accident? Just been looking on the Skoda UK site though and all of them on there have air con, and also most say inclination sensor alarm too.

Some sports do have a flip key I am sure as I think I saw one at my normal dealer and think some people on here have a sport 1.2 with the flip key too?

Oi!! I liked my little sport, bless it

My lowly comfort (MY 2000) has flip key(s) ,alarm and a/c...no red seatbelts tho! :)

I had a 1.2 Sport as a courtesy car a few weeks back. It had air con and a flip key. Quite nice, I think that spec. with the 1.4 TDI engine would have been a cracking combination.

My Elegance had 3-button flip keys :D

Thanks for your help everyone. If anyone has anything to add about the specs on their Sports it would be much appreciated :)

I'll probably go back for another look next weekend and hopefully by then I'll have decided whether I can live without aircon, should be able to get it a few hundred quid cheaper than the book price as it's missing I would have thought?

The Bohemia was the 1.4 TDi version iirc, not quite as sporty but the same interior I think.

Nearly, no chrome door pins or red seat belts but apart from that it's the same. Shame about the engine

Saw one of these today in Combi format (IIRC that was all they were available in?), looked spot on, nice set of smart alloys, privacy glass etc.... fair sped away from the lights as well..... Think this one was in 1.4 16v guise

I think if I was after a non VRS Fabia, I'd be looking at one of these.... suprised there aren't a few more members on here with them

I'd imagine they'd mod quite well, lowered by 30mm or so, nice set of 16//17's on there, remap (for a 1.4 TDI), decent exhaust etc... certainly something that could give the VRS a run for its money

Ok, one more question: Can anyone tell me whether the Sport should have an alarm fitted? Skoda UK second hand cars all seem to have one but this could be an error I guess?

Just want to make sure if I do go for the aforementioned car it isn't missing anything else it should have

The 1.2 sport I had earlier this week as a courtesy had aircon and a flip key. I must say the trim level on it was nice compared to my 1.9 tdi comfort.

This really is terrible - heated seats yet no air son wtf.

Oh great is 35 degrees in the shade I know I'll turn on my heated seats to help.... and let the fan blow on me with the power of a mouse with a chest infection.

Yes, the Bohemia was a nice spec, but only available in estate form. :(

Blimey, there really is a lot of kerfuffle regarding Sport specs!

Loz - you must be the only person to like the 1.4 16v engine in the sport - its the only manual model to have the 75bhp version of the engine.

I'm convinced it was a one-off **** up as I have not seen a single other sport available without aircon.

On the positive side it does have sunset glass from the B-Pillars back which should help keep it a little cooler?

How many times a year do you need aircon though? I hardly use mine. 20 years ago hardly any of us had aircon in our cars , I wonder why its such a must have now?

This has been pointed out to me, to look at the weather this month..... Still be nice to have it though for the odd occasion and to demist in the winter.

Going to have another look tomorrow to check another couple of things out so we will see :)

I bought the wife a Fabia Sport 1.2 12V in May which was first registered in October 2006.

Colour Black. Flip key with 3 buttons. AC. Computer read out. 6 stack CD located under passenger seat. Intermittent wipers. leather steering wheel. Chrome tail exhaust. Spot lights. Electric front windows. Tinted windows. Wide tyres.

Can't think of anything else at the moment except to say its a joy to drive. Any excuse to use it and my Vectra is now sulking in the garage. And if I continue using any excuse to take it the wife will be doing the same.
