Water in drivers foot floor pan

Featured Replies

Ive just bought a 110K superb 1.9tdi comfort and have noticed the drivers floor carpet is wet. Is this a normal problem. Will a new door seal sort it. Any sugestions welcome.

Many thanks

It is a known problem, something to do with an aircon pipe coming loose normally.

What to look for

1) Feel the front carpets for dampness. 2) Lift up the front passenger footwell carpet. Look for a water leak.

What it means (if you find this fault)

Leaks that make the carpet wet can come from the door seals or the pollen filter. If there is a leak under the passenger carpet, the air conditioning pipe needs re-connecting to stop the leak. The leaks may have damaged wiring in the car electronics syste

What to do (your options)

Have the car examined to ensure there is no water ingress in the electronics and have the pipe re-connected. Electronics repairs prices will vary, the examination should be around

Same here!

Except mines a bit worse....

The car hasn't been moved for nearly a week, so when I got into at 8am today it had 3 inches of water in the rear passenger footwell - the cars on a slope.

Car started ok.

But...

Alarm now goes intermittently, central locking does not work all the time, interior (incl. glovebox and boot) lights don't work. Indicators get stuck on. etc etc.

Managed to drive it too the garage, without getting pulled over for not having any working indicators.

Looks like it'll cost about 10 work - at over

One other little fix I might suggest for anyone else who gets this problem is to get a cover sheet, I know it means wrapping the car up after you finish, but if money is tight it will help in the short term.

Ive just found what may be the answer on another forum. I think it may be the seal between the door shell and the inner cover ( not the interior door trim but the bit behind it). If it stops raining I will have a look toinght. This is the link Water leak into footwell - dodgy seal info and DIY repair guide - SEAT Cupra.net . Spoke to Dutton Forshaw and they want

I managed to get Skoda UK to pay for the full cost of repairs when my Superb was 10 months out of warranty. It took a letter and many telephone calls to the Customer Service Centre, but in the end they relented and even paid the cost of hiring an estate car for me as we have twin boys - we needed a Superb sized boot for the double buggy! I also specified which dealer I wanted the car to go to as I did'nt want it to go back to the supplying dealer. Unfortunately this dealer was no better than the supplying dealer, as the car came back with a cracked windscreen.

The car was at the dealer's for 3 weeks in the end, and that is another dealer that I will not deal with again. All the servicing is carried out by a local, excellent independant garage.

It could also be a blocked pollen filter IIRC.

Well it rained all night and this morning I have a dry footwell. Yippe!!! When I loosened the inner door pannel to squert in the silicone I noticed small glass chipping in one drain hole. So I guess at some stage in the last 110K miles it had been broien in to through the drivers door glass. Then the inner door seal was damaged removing it to fit the glass and therefore a wet floor pan. May not be the cause of every ones leak but sorted mine. Just got to rod out all the drain plugs now.

Just found out its cost
