eBay Shops

Featured Replies

Need some info.

The boss want me to set up an eBay shop for her, to sell off old bits and bobs of old stock that isnt shifting for just a touch over trade price. But from what I could see there wasnt any big pro's for us having a eBay shop, so I wonder if I have missed something :P

Can you guys / gals help me out and list some pros and cons of setting a shop up as opposed to selling as an individual seller?

Ta you lot ;)

Mike, some people will bid on anything and pay over the odds :)

That sounds like me

As far as I can see, it allows you to put similar items you're selling in certain categories you've assigned within the shop. With the aim of making it easier for punters to just browse your products, without doing an eBay wide search.

Have a gander at eBay help too, it's *usually* pretty good.

I would have a feeling they'll make some addition charge, or increased fee, if you have a shop. Wouldn't surprise me

Agreed, it allows you to create your own sub catagories in order to make browsing your items easier for people looking.

Advantages might be that you can list stuff for 30 days odd. If you sell a lot, a shop gives you economies of scale as I think each listing you do in a shop is at a cheaper rate - might be wrong - but I think there is like a monthly "service charge" to have a shop as well. If it's just the odd bits, you may as well sell as an individual under the business name (setup a new account?) and see how it goes.

I love Ebay. And bidding on stuff when I'm P*ssed. This week I are bid on 2 x VW AEF engines, a VW Caddy pick up, a set of VW rims, a set of skoda rims, and a haynes manual for a Felicia. haven't won a thing!
