CD Player

Featured Replies

Got a 6 disc player in the boot, however most of the time i get "Surface" when i try to play any disc. I cleaned them a few times but the trouble returns...................any thoughts?

cheers

Mike

Are you using original CDs or homebrew? Cos I seem to remember that the cd changer has a strong dislike towards CDRs... May be wrong though, but worth a further search

Mine is ok with copied cds and I get this error probably once every couple of months. Take the cartridge out and give a good blow into the changer itself. That usually sorts it for me!

as daft as it sounds, i load the cartridge, let it load all the discs (wait till all the noises stop) and then shut the cover and it gets rid of the "MAGAZINE" fault as well!

I've had the odd SURFACE or MAGAZINE error with pre-recorded discs. Pulling the magazine, reloading it, and leaving the car ignition off for a toilet break seems to fix it.

As for what causes it, it seems to be associated with going over a bump whilst it's changing discs!

yea i sometimes get it but all i do is turn it off for a minute of so then turn it back on.

that normally does it

Or you could go to Aldi and get a head unit that does MP3 CD's, USB, Auxiliary in and a 2Gb memory card for less than

Well except for the minor details that some of us don't have any MP3s, don't have significant problems with CDs jumping, oh and do actually still own cassettes so want a head unit that supports them too!

I just play mp3 based CDs in my pioneer head unit :-)
