Finally on my new PC

Featured Replies

Got the Belkin dongle working tonight! :woohoo: So finally back on Briskoda again. Got some sorting out of this PC to do though. All my faves need re-adding and there's loads of bits like AVG to still stick on.

This PC seems fast to my previous XP2200. Its an AMD64 XP4200, so has 2 cores running at 2.21 Ghz. Should in theory be able to fold 2.5 odd times faster than before - which reminds me - that's something else to install soon too.

Nice one Jason, nothing better than a fresh install for speed :)

Just found out there's no MS office, so the MS document I created with screenshots of my favourites to remind me won't work. Sure I can get around this eventually. ;)

Install OpenOffice (openoffice.org) - it'll read/save your Microsoft Office documents, and it's free!

In a pinch, like for the 1% of stuff OpenOffice can't handle, Microsoft produce free 'viewer' versions of Word and Excel. Of course, they can't save stuff, only view it.

Yup - made the switch from hookie MS Office to OpenOffice last year and haven;t looked back.

(as well as Firefox instead of IE, Thunderbird instead of Oulook and VLC media player instead of Windows MP).
