17" S3 Alloys or not?

Featured Replies

Are the Audi S3 alloys a direct fitment to the vRS when fitted with 205/40 tyres?

I've checked both circumferences and the rolling radius and can't find a size that's any closer, although some people use 215/40's why is this?

Also, how popular is this wheel choice for the vRS, there's a picture in teh alloy wheel archive, but I'm unable to see it and haven't seen any others, so I'm guessing either no one has them or they look c**p!

I need new tyres and have a set of S3 wheels doing nothing.....

Cheers for any advice..

I know it's not a Furby but I have them on my Octy and think they look the mutts!

Star Performance used to run them on their Fabia demonstrator as well so they do fit, but as you rightly said, I think you need 205/40 - I am running 225/45.

In fact, here is Star's Fabia wearing them...

Nasty

Yeah I dont think they suit.

The Cupra alloys on the hand MMMMM!!!

I think they are Mille Miglia HT3's but apparantly the company has gone bust?!?!

Nope they look awesome. Gayle had some on a silver vRS and it looked sweet too.

Found a pic on my pc

They look alot better in silver.

look a tad too big in that picture

They look crap IMHO.

How about a set of RS2 alloys?

Or how about the old model RS6 - very nice.

Then again - why are you wasting your money on this? Surely now with the fact some ins companies will not insure the vRS its getting black marks against its name and really you dont want to add to the **** problem (not saying they look that bad but you get the idea).

Or how about getting a nice set of Sagaris alloys?

Why paint them dark?

Personally the std Fabia alloys suit the car better. Would be better to spend the money firming up the Fabia shocks than changing the wheels IMHO.

But if you have a brand new vRS why would you take off and throw away perfectly fine shocks?

What a waste and very uungreen

Yeah I dont think they suit.

The genuine Cupra wheels aren't Miglias but do look very similar.

That is gorgeous.

Wardy had a set on his old Fab. They looked super!

Only pic I can find is this one at the mo, but I'm sure he's got some others...

Can't believe nobody remembered I had a set on mine apart from Chris! - honestly ;)

To confirm - you can use either 205/40 or 215/40 - mine had the latter. And given the choice, I'd use a 215 again. I had no rubbing issues (mine was fitted with Eibach -30mm springs) and personally think 205s are a little too narrow on a 7.5 inch wheel like the S3. I also think that little extra tyre width gives a better stance.

Well, here's a selection. Personally, I think they looked great. I bought Gayle's set that were mentioned earlier. And TBH, I'd have a set again. So col6821, if you don't fancy using them, give me a shout

Cheers,

Steve

Nicest set of wheels I've seen on a Fabia vRS were those on Shifty's.

Classy i.e. if I had the money spare I'd have bought some. Other than that the Octy 17 inch alloys look pretty good.

Are you cutting and pasting your replies from other posts you're making Val? ;)

Or is it just an echo?

Steve

Personal choice mate, and I don't think my actions will influence insurance premiums too much ;)

As for painting them dark - again, personal preference - like the dark contrast with the yellow of the car.

If we all liked the same it'd be a boring place (and the gallery would be a bit repetitive )

Thanks for all the replies, this is obviously a subject that people have very definate opinions on.

I can't believe how much I like the S3 wheels without the centre caps, never even thought of using them like that!

I'd also though about having them re-furbed in a different finish (they could do with a little tidy up anyway), but the standard silver on a black car looks good IMO.

Probably going to take them to LapTab in Birmingham.

Steve, I'm still in two minds whether to use them or not, I'll either be posting pictures of them fitted or give you a shout if they're available.

Cheers

F.Y.I. col,

the badges from the centre of OEM Octavia vRS wheels fit right onto the centre hole on the S3 alloys.

A new set of black wheelnut covers (Octys come with a minging grey) and Robert's yer Mother's brother ;)

Does anyone know where i can get a set of the Cupra Alloys or the Miglia version from, i cant find them anywhere.

They seem very rare, I've yet to see a set available actually, second hand! And I looked at them for my first Fabia, along with the Ibiza I had.

Steve

Even rarer are the 17" Leon R wheels I had. Look quite different to the 17" Ibiza Cupra alloys that are about now.

Yep, agreed. They're probably my all time favourite wheel on a Fabia, those you had Ross

Rare as hen's teeth mixed with rocking horse droppings ;)

Steve
